As I said, Reether is a hard ass, and he didn't like the animal on the counter. 
He was also aggravated about the loss of product, as mentioned. 
Is it an over-reaction? Yes. But he wasn't yelling or anything. :/
"His voice was firm, but not outright hostile."

...it's not like he's screaming at you.
