Maybe his planet becomes interfered with in that war that will spur him into going out into the multiverse and he thinks your group somehow has all the answers.
There's actually many possibilities that could play out to get him to align to cause conflict. His brother Dom, for example, is a key one. The kid's only in his early teens and becoming what his people nicked as an 'Enslaved' which is a human being processed into a cybernetic slave. They lose who they are then end up attacking their loved once or becoming a work force, but this ends up happening gradually over time. Right now, Dom was infected over a month ago and already his arm is nothing but robotic as his cells are converting to metal. He also bleeds mercury. The sad part about 'Ensalve', there's only condition Jacer would have to meet so he could keep his brother with the rest of the survivor, or anyone could really. That condition is when the brain is actually affected than Jacer actually has to murder his own brother. So anything in regards to helping, threatening, killing or aiding them, or namely his brother, are incentives to get them on one side or another. As I've said before, I tend to intertwine story and fighting together best as I can like a novel.
