By having strong germanic familial ties, a fervent belief based on discovery and not forced implication, and in all honesty I did not know about the term or concept of Asatru until a couple of years ago. After researching the term, I found that it fit with my concept of belief, and have used it ever since. After all, I find things easier when i can give them a name or label.

And pardon any passive aggression here, but I prefer the term pagan to heathen. Has better connotations to it.
