Your questioning and affirmation that you have all the facts makes you come off as condescending and arrogant, yeah. As a Co-GM though I understand it's suppose to be your job to analyze players and their characters for any potential flaw or weakness that either needs to be addressed for storyline purposes or simply as advise. But like Harine says, a lot of time you cause quite a stir within the OOC that lasts for days on end as you battle it with the players over something or another. To put it simply, you try to help and all you do is cause a fight. It's not even a fun nonsensical fight like picture wars, which at least we can walk away from without feeling sadden by any perceived lost or something. Cause you got to remember, as a Co-GM you do have some pull as to what happens in this RP. If you don't like a character us players have to some how compromise or appease you, because you have the authority to deny it. Sure you need Harine and Lugu's input too, but you're here most often so you can do the damage before they can arrive and handle the situation. Like that who fiasco with Kabel's cannibalism. Sure we had players who were concerned, but for the most part all they could really do is have their characters speak their thoughts on the matter. But when you came in and said Kabel needed to do something about it, it could no longer be ignored. It wasn't a complaint, it was an order, and one that not everyone agreed on. Eventually the other GM's came in and resolved the matter but I had a feeling you didn't exactly discuss your battle plan with them before you jumped in to lay down the law. In a way you play the role of Sapphire quite well: You expect everyone to follow your command if only because you've been put into authority for it. You certainly do have the skills and knowledge to be a good Co-GM. But your approach leaves much to be desired. You have the title but lack the support, so everyone follows along because that's what is expected from us due to the Co-GM/Player dynamic. And as you can see with the rest of Team Swansong, this just makes players scheme and do their own thing without you, though it helps that two members of Team Swansong are also the characters of GM's.
Most of the time when I raise an issue with a character or story point I've completely forgotten that I'm a Co-GM. Usually the problems are something I feel need to be address and I've totally forgotten that I have the power to make people address them.
Where did this come from? Does this need to be taken to a private conversation? Do you need someone to talk to who will listen?
In a Zelda RP I'm in a guy who'd had some trouble with contradictory and controversial posts PMed me his most recent post to make sure it was alright and ask if there was any thing he should edit. I gave him some advice with his post, some pointers here and there, a couple areas where he could be clearer, and what I thought of his new concept. Albeit going into more detail about it than I really should have (bad habit). He proceeded to swear at me in a PM made almost with all caps. Tell me I was stifling his creativity, that I was talking out of my ass, that I should be arrested for crimes against RPers everywhere and that nothing I said held any weight. He then went into the Zelda RP told everyone else that he would not return unless I rotted in hell and informing everyone in all other RPs he was involved in that he could be on this site any more. He hasn't logged back on since.
