Arus resisted the reflex to gap at the well armed and numerous risen that came to attack. Unfortunately this was exactly what he feared would happen, he quickly fell into formation along with the others. Last battle had already displayed the cost of rushing recklessly forward, and Arus was loath to make the same mistake twice, even if it was to help a comrade again. He unsheathed his sword and held onto the reins with one hand holding his sword in his left. As a ground solider he knew well the power of cavalry, though he wished he was a good enough rider to direct his horse only with his knees it simply wasn't realistic for him to do so in a combat setting. Hopefully the mages and archers would return fire or those ranged risen would tear the front line apart. He would have to keep an eye out for projectiles as well as melee attackers.
