Rage is the cover up for her depression/loss. She has a soft spot for cats, small children, humans and singing The Keash – The Keash were created at the request of an insane warlord a few centuries back. He demanded that a new warrior strain be created for his armies. The wizards, warlocks and alchemists worked tirelessly for the warlord and three potential super soldiers were presented. The other two were very unstable with only one viable created by the Alchemist Keash were named after their creator. However, the Keash weren’t perfected yet either. The creators were determined to make the females give birth to twins consistently and produce males more often than females… saving the females for breeding, but at a lower cost. Eventually the Keash women who weren’t allowed to learn warfare and were kept in almost ‘prison-like’ conditions, thanks to overpopulation, revolted. Much more powerful than the creators could have imagined the revolt happened almost overnight, ending with the warlord murdered in his bed as well as most of the creators. The Keash were at their highest numbers that night. They left and were determined to mix with humans and live normal lives. It didn’t take long for them to discover that they could not reproduce with humans and that their natural disposition to fight made them at odds with the humans in many instances. The Keash broke into two groups, those who wanted to blend and tone down their warrior ways, and the other wanted to do what they did best, fight. The two groups separated mostly peacefully and the group of warriors were mostly destroyed in the Battle of the Seven Cities. Since that time, the Keash have separated again a couple of times making 5 small clans. Reproduction has become hard for them and it looks like the world might have seen as many Keash as it ever will. Keash infants are almost always stillborn if they can even be brought to term. This situation has made many Keash restless and the clans seem to be close to falling apart. History - Iola’s clan was one of the first to experience the birthing problem. Iola is a member of the last generation… the very youngest Keash that she knows of is only five years younger than she is. Due to one Duke Yarmouth who started a witch hunt for changelings, the clan was repeatedly tormented. Often their Keash ways were thought to be different and perhaps the work of changelings. When Duke Yarmouth passed away and the witch hunt slowed down, Iola was taken to train with Lycra, one of the few survivors of the Battle of the Seven Cities. Iola was chosen because of her special talent with the Lightning Dash… an ability that not many Keash have mastered. Under the tutelage of Lycra and a human wizard by the name of Tremon Slijor, Iola was trained with all the skills she would need to defend the clans through assassination, information gathering, and subtly. Iola first mission was the assassination of one the captain’s over the local watch. The man was pure evil and had used his power to abuse the Keash among others. Iola completed the mission perfectly and took a liking to Captain Jarrowsby’s sword… so she took it as a reminder of where she it all began. Since that time, it seems like evil has taken hold of the land… The clans troubles have just begun. The Beastmen’s gangs, the Cult of Gazesha, and the corruption within the kingdoms are signs that Iola will only find peace in death’s sweet embrace. Marriage- Part of Iola's clan tried to blend in with the mortals; Iola was a few of the Keash who tried to do so. Over the months/years of living in their company, she developed a soft spot for mortals...one in particular by the name of Kilian Smith. It was her first taste of a normal life and after a few months they were married. They were happy, but they could not have children-their genetics did not mix well together and Iola suffered through the bad news. It was causing their marriage to slowly fall apart; as Killian and Iola longed to have children and Iola could not give him a family like she wanted to. They tried to fight for their love and marriage. One day, her husband didn't come home from a hunting trip; he was kidnapped by an enemy to the Keash. He was tortured for information on Iola's clan and their where-abouts. But he would not give in, as he swore he would protect Iola's secrets. Meanwhile,, Iola was searching for her husband to save him, when she arrived it was too late. It seemed like she had arrived just in time to see his slow and painful death; she responded by killing his kidnappers in rage. Falling by her husband's side, she was there to hear his last breath and last words, as he died in her arms. Killian's death had scared Iola and is the cause of her deep rooted depression.
