While the GM will be the one directing the RP, it's the initiative and actions of the participants that will be the main driving force behind it.

You should not be afraid to carve out a space for your character in the roleplay, and do what you want/what suits your character. Don't be afraid to take the imitative. A good GM will be able to weave your actions into the grand story arc :)
