I made edits to the origin and backstory to go more along with your timeline, and remembered Sugar Man from the AoA era was a protege of Sinister and a geneticist himself. So I just put him in place of Essex and gave him the alias 'Johnathan Sweet'. Eventually I'll have something happen to Sweet to make him the more horrendous monster mutant he was during AoA.
