To be fair, a very large part of leadership is being able to actually make people follow you. You can do that through respect, fear, or money. Given that Beacon students don't get paid, that leaves pretty much all team leaders with respect or fear. And the latter would get you kicked out of Beacon if you managed to terrify three people about as tough as you are to such a point that they listened to you. You absolutely need to be able to lead effectively, but brewing resentment within a team is a surefire way to cause a problem later. This is all IC, of course, so we could argue this until the cows come home, but there's definitely a point to be made about a leader being able to make those under their command want to follow them.
