Dread energy is a spawn of the Chaos energy. Truth be told I wouldnt know how to begin explaining what Chaos energy on its own can do. All I can tell you is what Dread Energy can do. It started out roughly 8 years ago as a bullshit energy that I didnt want anyone to be able to control but Xavier. 

So starting there, removing the portion of the story that claims its birth from Chaos as i had intended to do since i planned to.rewrite his history, I intended for it to be a free molding basic energy, harmless until combined with other elements and abilities. Too many people enjoy sweeping aside an elemental attack if they have the same elemental prowess, the infusion of Dread Energy takes that option away. I had transferred Xaviers power to another character awhile back and the way it was born was through that characters elemental powers decaying after he was sacrificed as a child. A necromancer stole his body and implanted the energy orb life support system which molded violently and in an unexpected fashion to the built up anti-energy within his body and the overall deep seeded hatred within his body.

As i said, i made it up a long time ago and have been working to define it ever since. I do apologize if the explanation isnt up to par. I plan to fix that as time goes on. The afore mentioned explanation has been my favorite though.
