[@Akayaofthemoon] I'd say the biggest factor is how long have they been in the war. I would argue that a veteran that's been fighting long enough would definitely have heard most, if not all, the stories. The main part of his fame/infamy definitely stems from the body count he's racked up during the war as well. So it's likely that a Keyblade Wielder who's heard enough of the stories would probably know better than to screw with him unless they were very confident in themselves.
