She'd pulled in a bountiful harvest today, and there wouldn't be too many more of those. While snow didn't fall south of the river, it wouldn't be too terribly long until the first frost came. But the changing of the seasons was a blessing, it brought about new life, second chances. The sky was beginning to darken, she guessed that there was maybe thirty slips of twilight left. Just enough time to get dinner going. She hated cooking by firelight. Her dark green skirt, muddied from the outdoor work, swished as she stepped through the door into her apothecary. Immediately the scents of her drying herbs and such wafted over her. She loved this room for that reason, and many others. She moved into her home, grabbing a covered basket, and returning into the apothecary. Deftly, Trix pulled a few food stuffs out; a cut of fish, cleaned and deboned by the merchant she'd purchased it from, a large potato from her stores, and a skin of red wine. Moving over to a table, she looked through the dried plants hanging above it, before plucking a few basil leaves and caraway seeds from a pouch tied around the seed head of the plant. Back at the table with her food, she added the seeds and leaves into her mortar and crushed them into a powder with her pestle. She sprinkled the dust copiously over the slab of fish, ensuring to cover both sides. Grabbing a knife, she stabbed a few vent holes in her potato, then picked up her supplies and returned to her home, enjoying the warmth of the fiery hearth. Her pan was already sitting on the table, and she set the fish therein, and doused it lightly in wine. Moving over to the fire, she set the potato upon a stone, in the back, so that it was heating, but not directly in the flames. She knew it would take a bit longer to cook than the fish, so she moved over to her bed and sat down, before leaning back comfortably. Holding her hand up, her expression shifted from comfortable and relaxed to one of worry. She concentrated, feeling the emotion well up within her, and pushed it out through her hand. This manifested as a dull, lavender glow. This glow, this... magic was the cause of her worry. Everyone had heard that magic had returned to the land, but no one actually knew anyone who could use it. But there were rumors, that the knights were searching for this... mages. They then captured them, and doing who knows what to them. So obviously she couldn't tell anyone. Not that she had anyone particularly close to her. Her parents lived in the capital, and everyone in town were acquaintances, customers, and patients at best. She sighed, before waving her hand, the dull glow dissipating. Maybe she would get a dog, for these lonelier nights.
