[*][b]Brief Backstory[/b]: Elise was born into an old and diluted  family of European mages which hasn't produced anything worthwhile in several generations. In fact, while she isn't the most experienced, Elise might be the most potent living member of their house. Magic was a distant possibility for most of her childhood, as her mother lacked any ability and her father was only a middling quality mage, but when her grandfather learned of her affinity for _______ he decided to take her training into his own hands. _______, the affinity which had accompanied some of the most skilled mages in the family's long history, had not been seen in four generations of the family's mages. With the [i]White Night[/i] nearing completion, her aged mentor allowed himself a sliver of hope that the Isley family might have a place in the final lunge towards the Origin after all.

At first, the young Elise rebelled against being taken away from her father and mother. However, as her grandfather taught her about magic and the history of her family he awoke within her the lust for power that drives most mages forward. Without the connection to a powerful family, she had to claw her way into the Tower on her own merits, but once she was accepted she studied hard to overcome her disadvantages and prove her worth as a mage. It didn't come easy to her though, and her poor bloodline made her the subject of some ridicule and scorn from the fellow students who thought themselves superior to her. Still, she managed to earn a reputation for her stubborn effort which, more often than not, paid off.

With the White Night of Klarsberg approaching, she has bid her grandfather farewell for what may be the final time. She is determined to either survive this ritual and prove once and for all that mages of the Isley family are not to be underestimated. Of course, her failure might deliver the killing blow to her withering family.[/list]
