Nation Name: The Republic of Forenza Brief Nation History (No need for any history before 1700): The Republic of Forenza is a relatively new nation, only a few decades old. It was birthed from a revolution which saw the execution of the autocratic royal family which ruled over the region of modern Forenza. The Republic came about when the Royal Family attempted to sell out large amounts of land to foreign investors in an attempt to speed up their modernization process, an action with outraged the people of this small island country. The revolution was quick and bloody, with the small military of this nation turning against the monarchs also. After the revolution, the Forenzan people remained true to their old ways of trade and marine based activities such as fishing. Under this new political system, led by a Presidente, who was kept in check by a council elected by the people, the Republic of Forenza flourished. It opened up its stockpiled resources and established trade deals with other nations, generating a large amount of income. What was once an isolated people slowly opened up to the outside world, rather ironic considering the very reason a revolution occurred was because the previous Monarchs tried to force the people into giving in to foreign influences. It seems now that perhaps the instigators of the revolt may not have had the honorable intentions of preserving the people's culture after all. Government: Democracy. Ruled by a Presidente who is elected by members of the High Council, who are in turn elected by the people.
