Poison the king? I was thinking of staging a coup right there and then. He has the triforce of power after all. Poisoning and the whole cloak and dagger planning would make more sense if he does not have it.
Oh I thought that's what we were talking about earlier. In any case there might be a couple of problems with staging a coup right now. The two biggest problems would be that first Ganondorf has one soldier on his side and she's kinda ditzy. the Triforce of Power may give him strength but I don't believe even Ganondorf with the power of the gods could defeat the entire Hylian military by himself. Secondly At the very most Link and Zelda are in the same town likely no more than twenty minutes walk. If he makes a bid for the thrown they're going to take him down and our story kind of... well ends. He may have the Triforce of Power but that doesn't mean he's invincible and it doesn't mean that those wielding the other pieces of the Triforce can't beat him. Besides Hyrule is a big kingdom and relatively the desert has a very small population. Even if this coup were successful and he declared himself ruler of Hyrule he wouldn't have enough people to keep the citizens in line and even with the Triforce he can't be there to put down ever squabble or rebellion. He wouldn't be able to hold the kingdom. It's a much smarter move for him to maneuver himself into power slowly. Whatever Ganondorf's flaws he's never been an idiot. He wouldn't start a war he wasn't confident in winning. And now that I think about it when exactly did Ganondorf get the Triforce of Power? Hasn't he been hanging out in the desert for most of his life?
