I want to say that the fakeout was completely planned, but that's not the case. Truth be told, I had a blast writing him in the original, but I just can't seem to get back into the character, which really, REALLY stinks. I thought about it a bit and decided to NPC him rather than go with my original plan, which would have been killing him off incredibly early (likely before the first gym.)
