[@Loony] Yeah, it's pretty much the same with me.  I paid little attention in math as a kid because I found it boring and easy, only to suddenly crash and burn as soon as I started doing real math.  I feel pretty bad about it now, but come on, what sort of middle schooler is legitimately interested in math?
