Iori, as a amateur boxing champ, naturally has a working knowledge of close-quarters hand-to-hand combat. He's a natural southpaw, but learned to fight orthodox as well, at times switching back-and-forth to confuse his opponent. As such he is classified as an ambidextrous boxer. In terms of fighting-style Iori is considered an oddity by analysts and spectators alike. He combines aspects of an inside fighter, an out-and-out brawler, and a swarmer, and constantly seeks to dominate a fight through constant use of jabs, crosses, hooks and upper-cuts. He has excellent bob and weave and when he does get hit he tends to "guard with his face" as Kyo puts it, absorbing incoming counters "on the chin", before countering with crippling body-shots.
