In a parallel world, things are much different. Charles Xavier isn't the hero, as in the more familiar worlds. Instead, he is, what many dub, the new Hitler. Believing that mutants are the superior race, he has created an army of mutants he calls the Xmen. Those humans which won't cooperate are rounded up and killed, unless they can offer the Xmen something worth their lives. Those that do make such an offer find themselves in a personal meeting with Xavier or his Lieutenant Jean Grey, code named "Phoenix" for her pyrokinetic and flight abilities. There their loyalty is forever insured through the use of telepathy. Mutants which resist are given a similar treatment, and if they won't turn willingly receive a similar visit to insure their conversion. Xavier has captured much of the Northeastern US, and is now stationing troops on the northern border of Maryland. Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto, leads a Brotherhood of Mutants to fight him, because he believes that humans and mutants can live in peace. It isn't enough. In a desperate attempt to build up a force strong enough to take on the Xmen, Magneto has sent out representatives to cities around the world, hoping to recruit enough mutants to turn the tide of this war. Xavier's chief scientist, Hank McCoy, aka Beast, has even developed a virus that can turn normal humans into mutants, though it is unstable and often lethal to "normals". Intelligence reports show that Beast is developing a way to deploy the virus so that it can be used as a biological weapon. We were in Richmond, VA when the missiles fell. They were the first test of Beast's new weapon. As people die around us, we must learn what it is we've become, come to terms with it, and learn to use it to fight those that slaughtered so many to give us our powers, eventually taking the fight to them. [hr] We will all get our powers at the beginning of the IC, or have acquired them less than a week ago. From there we'll build up our control over them while dealing with the aftermath of the attack, including people that somehow blame us for the attack because we are now mutants, the only ones they can see. There are also other, born mutants in the city, though only one of them is famous. Will they can help us learn what we have become, or will they hate us for once being a "normal"?
