In the bio he ate it himself so he can still effectively drown; if you'd prefer I can put the power in his guitar so there's the whole bit of him being separated from it. Regardless, he can probably(?) still use the powers through the guitar by strumming it and amplifying the sound with his own powers, which is more than likely his preferred method of utilizing his fruit since he's a guitarist at heart and not a singer. :lol
