There was also the correction that it wasn't the gates of the Underworld, you buy a Book of the Dead so, once you've been deemed good, you can find your way to the Underworld where you work for the Gods, forever. The Underworld can only be reached with a map... The Valley of the Reeds as I remember it, is whack off huge and only those who were buried with their book of the dead can find the afterlife.
