Drill sergeant like PE teachers are a classic archetype of fiction everywhere, not just anime, and even when they put their students to near death experiences it's not seen as anything wrong because they are just training their bodies which is their duty as PE teachers. Now, consider that we are on an assassination school and you'll see my point.

[i]"If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen..."[/i] Another even better example would be Naruto's Chuunin (pretty sure I wrote it wrong, BTW) Exams, which actually kill the students during the procedures, so whatever is it that Itsuko does, it can't be wrong.

However, what must be remembered is, this is an RP, a particularly unrealistic one at that. As long as it can be rationalised within RP limits (which it can), doesn't take away from good storylines (which it may, but remains to be seen) and keeps interest high (which is really up to everyone's interactions with the 'new teacher') I can't really see a problem with it.

Let's put this discussion in a better light. You guys can try to pointing my failures and question my logic as many times as you want, but I'll bring in a bible's wroth of example to prove that Itsuko is a valid teacher as long as this is an anime inspired RP (which it's). So...

Can we stop it before I'm forced to dig even more references?
