Ticking all the boxes in the ‘tall, dark and handsome’ category, he stands at a good 6 foot with a muscular and lean frame. Two piercing blue eyes are set in a comely face with a long nose, a chiseled jaw, and a killer smile. Short, messy black hair and heavy brows give him a dark and would-be-brooding look, were it not for his seemingly permanent smile and bright outlook. Although his skin is fairly clear, barring a few minor scars here and there, a number of tattoos take up a lot of his skin. The largest and most obvious would be the one on his back, of an intricately designed cross. Two more tattoos are on a much smaller scale – Hecate’s symbol, one on the inside of each wrist. His right arm has a small raised bump from where he had broken it, and not had it properly re-set. Clothing Style: Sam likes his dark colours. Shirts, t-shirts, sweaters, hoodies – he has plenty of casual wear, most in neutral or dark tones. He usually wears jeans, with leather boots and leather jacket for out and about wear. He has some nicer stuff for formal occasions; again, it’s not very likely for him to be wearing bright colours. One main thing he does wear is an old family signet ring – he insists it’s not for nostalgic reasons and rather it looks good on him, but it belonged to his Grandpops. And he loved his Grandpops. So he loves this ring.

Delving Deeper
Likes:

Folk, Indie and Alternative music.
Personality: ♦ Secretive ♦ Companionable ♦ Compulsive ♦ Facetious When it comes to socialising, Sammy is right at home. Although Hecate is often regarded as a mistrustful Goddess, what with her ability to use such dark magics, Sam is one of the most favourable and easy-going people you will ever meet. Inviting from the start of a conversation, he’s used to working an easy-going sarkiness, casual flirting or an innocent cynical remark into a talk with someone else. This flippant attitude of his rarely wavers, especially in the face of danger – whether it be the trivial ‘didn’t-hand-in-homework-for-the-third-time-in-a-row’ way, or real-life danger involving monsters and death. And, what with him being a Demi-God and all, is far more common than one would assume. On top of this, his actions are fairly compulsive. If he wants to do something, it’s likely he will do it without even regarding the consequences – for example, fleeing home in the middle of the night because of a disagreement with his Father at 16 years old. Although he may feel regret or even guilt in hindsight, it’s probable that the damage has already been wreaked. Also, Sam can be very secretive. He’s not easy to trust, so is likely to put walls up around people, even his Mother and Sister. If someone tries to pry too much, he will become cold and stand-offish, and give the perpetrator an icy glare that will hasten a retreat. However, if he trusts someone enough, a kinder, warmer side of him will be revealed. Background: From a young age, Sammy had known he was a special one. Disregarding the fact that he continuously kept setting fire to his Nanny’s hairpieces and socks as a toddler, he had always felt different. In school, he made up for that sinking suspicion that he was not like his classmates, by acting the class clown. He was smart enough to get the grades he needed, but in lessons, he was a true little hellion. Everyone expected him to fail in his tests, but when it came to it, he aced them. Other than that, he didn’t particularly do anything else. He went to school to talk to his pals, raise some hell, and get the grades he needed to stop his Dad kicking him out. Although pretty good at most of the sports, he avoided joining teams. He loved chess, but never joined chess club. As for his guitar, well, the school begged him to enter competitions and join clubs, but his answer was always no. He didn’t want to be tied to anything, to have responsibility for anything. That wasn’t something his Father particularly wanted to hear. Being a Senator, he wanted his Son to follow in his footsteps. He was all ready to have an internship open for his Son when he graduated from High School, so he could have experience before going to college. That... pretty much scared Sam. Scared him enough that at 16 he had to turn to the one man he truly loved, the one man he respected; His Father’s Father. Or, Grandpops, as he called him. After telling him of his situation, his Grandpops just nodded slowly, prodded him with his walking stick, and motioned towards the door. “Son, if you let your Dad make your path for you, then you’re never going to get to where you want to be in life. Now, your Dad used to know that; he used to live by that. It’s how he met your Mother. But he’s changed now, and he’s trying to change you. Make your own path, and your dreams will come true.” The words were heavy enough to act as a goodbye for the pair, and after an askance of a message to be passed along to his Father, Sam disappeared into the night. It wasn’t long before the monsters found him. He’d hitch-hiked his way from Oregon to South Dakota, and was heading to see the Great Lakes when something stopped him. He’d never seen a thing like it. At first glance, it was a beautiful young girl, beckoning a finger to him in the middle of the woods. Then suddenly she shifted into a monster, with fangs and flames in her eyes. He would have been dead, if he hadn’t panicked and thrown his arms up to stop her from jumping on him. Suddenly, she became engulfed in flame, and was thrown into the afterlife with an agonizing shriek. Staring at his smoking palms for a good few seconds, a female voice shocked him out of his stupor. Looking up, there was the woman he called Mother. He remembered seeing plenty of her as a young child, before his Dad became immersed in politics and life was pretty good. But he’d never seen her like this before - as a child, he had remembered warm eyes, warm smile, warm hair and warm hugs. Now she was as cold as the void of magic that radiated around her, the only lukewarm thing remaining of her being her smile as she looked at her son. After speaking for a few moments, in revealing who she was, and by proxy, who he truly was, she directed him in the direction of Utah, where a boarding school was kids like him went to learn and better themselves, in order to survive in a world of monsters and myths. She helped him along the path to the school, and they departed as Mother and Son rather than strangers as he entered the school. And for the first time in his life, things seemed to be going well. Now if he set something on fire, people just laughed rather than turn away in fear. They didn’t judge him on who his Father was, or expect certain things of him. It was a perfect life – made even moreso when he met a younger sister at the age of 19. Although unsure how to approach Ever at first, the two swiftly bonded, with him often helping her with her blindness and playing songs to her when it was quiet. And that’s when his first vision hit him. He had been in bed, getting ready to go to sleep when his head seemingly split open. Nonsensical images flooded his mind and his body racked in pain, blood vessels rupturing in his nose and ears. By the time he came to, it was morning, his head was aching and he was covered in blood. And he had also been left with a horrifying vision – His Father and Grandfather, being brutally murdered in their large Vermont home. Without even telling anybody, he ripped open his windows and flung himself out, willing himself to turn into a bird. He’d never attempted a bird before, but it had to count now – there was no other way to get home, no other way to save his family. And so, as he entered the grounds a boy, he left as a large Raven, racing against the winds and time to get home. By the time he had reached Vermont, he was so exhausted he changed back into his human form half-way through his descent to his home. Rather than landing on the outside balcony with the winds billowing behind him as he’d pictured, Sam landed in the nearby trees, the branches whipping against his body until he fell to a thud to the earthen floor, his arm giving a sickening crack as it broke beneath him. Nearly throwing-up in pain, he attempted to ignore his agony as he scrambled to his feet and ran to his home. As it turned out, those few minutes cost him dearly. By the time he arrived, His Grandfather was already dead, killed by these strange men. Using one of his Father’s guns, Sam was able to fight off the remainder of them, managing to save his Father in the process. The death of his Grandfather changed Sam. At the funeral, his Dad attempted to exchange words, words of gratitude, of relief, and of sorrow. But Sam wasn’t interested in what his Father had to say. Leaving home once again the night after the funeral, he took to the roads once more. And there he stayed until recently, when his Mother appeared to him in her cold glory. According to her, his visions were going to come more often, and some would be much worse than his first one. He was to return to the Academy, where the visions could be controlled, monitored, and perhaps even prevented. Although hesitant at first, Sam heeded his Mother’s wishes, deciding to return to his true home once again. But there was guilt there – he’d never explained to Ever why he had left so suddenly; in fact, he had no idea if she knew he was alive or not. It would be hard to explain, and hard to regain her trust. But... if it meant saving lives, if it meant stopping people feeling like he had watching his Grandpops die, then he would return to Olympus Academy. Extra:

Godly Information
Godly Parent: Hecate Relationship With Godly Parent: Hm... good, I suppose. Hecate was in his life as a toddler, and showed up at hard times in his life through childhood and his early teenage years. Although there was a distinct absence of her during some truly troubling times of his adult life, he still loves her, and hopes to do her proud some day. Godly Abilities: Professor Xavier is in the house: This power is probably Sam’s most powerful one – but also the most latent. More like a curse than an overall power, Sam is sometimes plagued with visions of horrific events soon to come. Although a rare occurrence, each visitation of a vision brings severe consequences. Depending on how bad the images of the future flitting through his mind are, he will be left with haemorrhaging from the nose, ears, eyes, and if particularly bad, will result in coughing up blood. After-effects include (ranging from mild vision to truly horrifying experience): Mild headaches, migraines, comatose state, death. In addition to the future, he occasionally has nightmares of past events – things from history that happened eons ago, before his family line had even begun. Although not bringing any health problems along the way with them, they are enough to stop him from sleeping some nights. All creatures big and small!: Sam has always had a love of animals. However, he was more than shocked one day to find he could turn into them. Well... some of them. So far he can do a wolf, various breeds of dogs and cats, a jaguar (That’s a favourite), and even a Raven once. He tried flying. It was great until he turned back into a human again mid-flight, resulting in a broken arm and various lacerations over his body. Fair to say, he prefers land-based creatures now. You’re on fire, baby!: He’d like to say that he can control fire, but control is not really the best word to use here. He assumes that the reason things seem to spontaneously combust around him is due to Hecate’s magic – which, if unlocked, could yield total control and perhaps even more elements – however, for the moment, he just creates a mess with the whole thing. If he finds something particularly amusing, or loses his temper, it’s not uncommon for a nearby appliance to explode. Or somebody’s eyebrows...
