Harley nodded as she listened to the girl speak. Her eyes roamed, and she didn't miss the way the girl hesitated for a beat before she'd taken her hand. There was something in her eyes - something that Harley couldn't quite put a name to just yet. Worry? Had she been worried? She watched as the girl looked back at the vehicle she'd arrived in. Ah. She was nervous. Harley couldn't say she understood why, but she guessed it had to do with being in a whole new place and knowing no one. And in such a small town too. The girl must have known that she'd be the center of attention for weeks. "Elena," Harley repeated with a warm smile. "Pretty name," she muttered under her breath as she took a look at the girl's schedule. They had their third and fourth period together, which she supposed was good. Harley knew she wasn't a genius or anything, but she could definitely help Elena catch up on English. Ms. Woods was a kind young woman - the youngest in the staff, actually - and Harley had befriended her with ease. She was sure that with their combined efforts, they'd get Elena caught up in no time. As for science... "We have English and Science together," she announced with a small, lopsided grin. "I can help you in English, and I'm sure I can find someone to help you catch up in Science. Carter maybe." Harley handed the girl's schedule back to her and waved away the students staring. She nodded when asked about a locker, and almost laughed when she saw the number on the paper. "You are one lucky gal, Elena. Or maybe I'm the lucky one," she added as an afterthought before taking the girl's hand and leading her inside the school. They maneuvered the mess of students in the hall, made easier when most of them simply took to staring at the new student. Harley stopped in front of a row of lockers. "There's yours," she pointed to a locker labelled 267, "and there's mine." She released her hold on Elena to pat the locker sitting to the right of Elena's. She leaned back on the lockers and grinned at Elena. The more she looked at the other girl, the more her curiosity gnawed at her. Never one to keep her mouth shut, Harley jumped straight into her questions. "So, Elena. Why did you transfer here? In the middle of the school year?"
