The root may also lie in another thing. I myself believe that crimes which hurt our own selves should be illegal, because of a couple of verses in 1 Corinthians. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." And 1 Corinthians 3:17: "If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple."
