And Crim, eh, no, HP is just one small part of it. Otherwise you could just catch a full-HPed Pokémon and be done with it. It's also based on the species (rarity factor, so yes, Scyther/Pinsir/etc. [i]does[/i] have better chances than Caterpie/Metapod/etc), level and IVs, at least. If you lose to a Caterpie it's because it probably had more levels, HP and/or IVs on you.
