The two seemed rather...mismatched, but then again perhaps he was entirely wrong on that account, he had misunderstood people before, though it was almost less common than him being lucky, which was saying something.

At the end of the day it probably didn't matter, but then again it might be useful in understanding both of them better if he came to know how they had met and how Valak had put up with the impulsive troublemaker up until now. Then again, it was entirely possible that they had met only recently, their goals aligning.

Hard to say really. As such, he stopped trying to figure it out and hoped that the not so talkative Valak would explain.
