Sweat broke out from the sides of her face as she clenched her hands together, trying to keep them from shaking. She sat on the floor in a quiet and empty hallway. The only hallway that hasn't yet been breached by the mass of the undead. Her breathing was unsteady, and her eyes unfocused. *10 minutes earlier* Good. None of the delinquents that hung around the back of the school to smoke were around today. Ayano breathed a sigh of relief, now planning to return to her classroom. As she made her way back inside the building, she couldn't shake the ominous feeling that something big was about to happen. AHHH! Suddenly, screams could be heard one after another from inside the classrooms. She could hear screams of anguish, tables and chairs falling and being thrown around, and windows breaking. There was utter chaos as the students began to fill the hallways, leaving their classrooms in horror and panic. "What's going on?" she asked one of girls that was running toward her. "Z-z-zombies.." the girl answered, frightened yet unsure. "What?" "Th-they're eating people." She shook involuntarily as tears started to stream down her face. Before Ayano could ask her anything else, a student with blood on his mouth and his uniform ran toward them. He looked strange, like he wasn't himself. The look in his eyes were the eyes of a predator hunting down its prey, and it sent shivers down her spine. He lunged at them, and Ayano quickly pushed the girl off aside, grabbing the knife from the sheath that was wrapped around her leg just under her skirt. The sharp knife pierced through his chest, and he dropped to the ground, screaming in pain before slowly losing consciousness. "What the hell is going on?!" Her voice trembled, and her hands slightly shook from the shock of stabbing a fellow student. She looked at the girl to search for answers, but she was already gone from sight. She must have ran away. Ayano quickly ran toward her classroom, desperate to look for her two best friends. Her eyes quickly darted around the room, searching for their faces. The room was a mess; chairs and tables everywhere, broken windows, blood splattered on the floor like paint. A sudden movement caught the corner of her eye, and she drew in closer to get a better look. It was her homeroom teacher. His face and mouth were covered in blood, dripping down to his clothes. He was.. feeding.. on her friend. Her eyes grew wide, and she felt her heart stop for a second. All the blood left her face, and she felt glued to the ground, unable to move. "N-no. It can't be. I-I.." Her legs started to shake and she fell to her knees, burying her face in her palms. The sight was enough to make her gag, but the overwhelming sadness and shock replaced those feelings of disgust. *Present* tick. tock. tick. tock. Ayano could hear her wristwatch in the dead silence as she wrapped her arms around her knees, her face buried in the dark hallow. Images of her dead friends friends flashed through her head, and she bit her lip as she forced those thoughts aside. The screams have died down and now it was peacefully quiet. Did everyone die? Probably. The other floors must be filled with the undead. She was alone in a pool of flesh-eating monsters and she was unable to move. No one was coming to save her. She was going to die and turn into a vicious monster herself.
