I blinked my eyes open only to find darkness. Hastily, I turned on my bedside lamp and looked my body over. No scratches, no wounds... nothing. It had only been a dream. A dream where that horrible monster had slowly torn me to shreds. I had to leave. There was no other way. The more distance between myself and the necklace, the better. The house itself might prove to be a danger, too - based on the apparitions that had appeared while I was in my coma, it was almost certainly haunted. Perhaps if I spent some time in one of my distant estates I would have the opportunity to recover my sanity, the necessary peace and quite to think clearly and come to a rational decision about how to deal with this necklace. I was a fool to have stayed in this house as long as I had after it had manifested itself before me. I had always wanted to go to England - that would be a suitable destination. I glanced at the clock by my bedstand. 5:22 A.M. With luck, I could have one of my private jets ready to transport me by this afternoon. I looked through my papers eagerly. How exactly was I supposed to get in contact with these people...?
