I still see no point at which Metz let go of the weapon, it may have gone in the water but it sure wasn't launched. And unless he HURLED the gun with all of his might over his shoulder it wouldn't wind up very far into the water. And as your post said, Metz only flicked it over his shoulder. As in, just a little more force than dropping it over his shoulder.

Also your timescale's a little off there. Half a minute? What?
