It was no secret that his family was basically drowning in debt, they could hardly afford certain things for him or themselves, and his parents were always working. Their situation was made worse when his father asked for the help of a loan shark in order to help pay everything off, in an attempt to fix everything for his family but it backfired when the man started to come for his money, with loads of interest tacked on. That brought them to now. It seemed that a mafia group had come to his parents with a deal: Give Matthew's hand to the young heir and have all the debt wiped away (it was later explained that the heir had developed a crush on Mattie, which led to them coming in the first place). His parents happily accepted and some members including his fiance were to pick him up tonight. The thought terrified him, but he supposed that it was for the best.
