Well, to be perfectly honest, the only one mentioning gods is Khan. There are no gods in the multiverse, nor have there ever been, for good reason. A true multiverse setting regardless of how you feel has powerful entities, much like life there are people with more power than others. But that is what makes the multiverse interesting. Well developed and functioning multiverses understand and accept this. It allows characters the ability to expand, giving less powerful characters the chance to grow in power to face them as enemies or allies. Powerwanks, as you like to say are not embarrassing, except when poorly done, then they become nothing more than dick contests. It points to the inability of writers to create, develop and grow. It also points to immature writers who don't understand the nuances of a multiverse. Every multiverse, good or bad, gives the writer a chance to grow their character and enrich the background of that character.
