Backstory
Extraterrestrial Incident One happened in the autumn of 2083. The object had been too small to be of any notice to space agencies across the globe though its impact in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean was noted. Days later, Extraterrestrial Organism One appeared in New York City, bringing terror and destruction, all but crippling the financial infrastructure of the United States and destroying the United Nations building. The National Guard, as well as other branches of the US Military, were brought in to take down the creature, the ensuing battle resulting in a tremendous amount of collateral damage with no real damage being done to the alien beast. It was eventually lured back out to sea where a decision was made to attack it with a nuclear weapon. The attack was successful in finally stopping the creature's rampage, but the United States had taken a serious blow and the world was left with one lingering question: are there others? To prepare for just such an eventuality, a special committee of the United Nations Security Council was created: the Committee for Extraterrestrial Threat Mitigation. While a nuclear weapon was successful in stopping Extraterrestrial Organism One, repeated usage of nuclear weaponry was not a viable long-term solution: fishing in the Atlantic has all but halted due to fallout and radioactive contamination from the missile that ended Extraterrestrial Incident One. The CETM's purpose was to develop non-nuclear methods of dealing with future alien threats, resulting initially in two projects, Myrmidon: an 'upgrade' of existing military technology and organization, and Colossus: a project to develop giant constructs on the same scale as Extraterrestrial Organism One that could fight the aliens on their level. The CETM was divided into two branches, the Atlantic and the Pacific, as it was determined that impacting aliens had a pretty high chance of landing in the water, due to the fact that 75% of the Earth's surface is covered in water, and that an impact into the solid ground may be lethal, even for these monstrosities. Each branch is based on an island in their respective ocean near the equator, so forces stationed there had even odds of reaching either the north or the south should an impact occur. Eventually, Extraterrestrial Incident Two occurred, this time in the Pacific Ocean. The Pacific Branch of CETM, led by Secretary Oleander, intercepted the alien with the Myrmidon naval fleet and their first Colossus. After a difficult battle, the CETM forces managed to take down Extraterrestrial Organism Two, though both the fleet and the Colossus sustained terrible damage. Still, there were no civilian casualties, proving the CETM was a success in practice. Using material from the two downed Extraterrestrial Organisms, a third project was started, the controversial Project Titan. Then came the secret Extraterrestrial Incident Three, and the arrival of Extraterrestrial Organism Three, known by the moniker, Mr. E. Unlike the other Organisms, Mr. E was not hostile, in fact, it came to warn humanity of the impending arrivals of other Organisms, and to prepare us to combat these horrors from space. The year is now 2090, seven years after Extraterrestrial Incident One. Extraterrestrial Organism Four approaches...

Explanation
The RP is basically about fighting giant monsters, so it will probably seem like a crossover of Attack on Titan, Ultraman, and Pacific Rim/Power Rangers, but with a dash of Lovecraftian horror. The theme will be a little more on the "dark and serious" side like AoT, and not as overly campy as Ultraman or Power Rangers, so I suppose Evangelion might be a pretty good reference too. The following is the basic premise: After a few initial alien attacks that devastated a few nations, mankind created an organization to defend against the giant monsters that were coming to earth. The organization is constantly trying out new and innovative ways to combat this extraterrestrial menace, coming up with a multi-pronged approach: a traditional military unit with state-of-the-art technology, giant humanoid robot to fight toe-to-toe with the giant monsters, individuals who have volunteered to be infused with alien material and gained the ability to grow in size, the use of individuals gifted with telepathy, and a cutting edge research team. Will mankind be able to stave off these monsters? How far is humanity willing to go to protect itself? Will they learn the origin of the creatures attacking them?

A note about characters
Now this RP may be a little different than others you may have participated in, because I want very much to prompt and guide the creation of your characters. The first order of business is I want you to 'reserve' your 'roles'. While I will allow multiple characters, I don't want people to go wild quite yet. I want everyone to at least have their main character be 'in on the action', to be someone who will participate in anti-monster combat. This means the characters will be in one of three divisions: Project Colossus:
Your character will pilot a giant humanoid mecha (Pacific Rim/Power Rangers/Evangelion, etc.).
Project Titan:
Your character will be infused with alien material and can grow in size to combat the monsters (Ultraman/Eren Jaeger).
Project Myrmidon:
Your character is a traditional soldier in a navy-like division. They will either be a fighter pilot, or a crew member of an aircraft carrier, destroyer, or nuclear submarine. These people will provide support for Projects Colossus and Titan (Think the JSDF from Godzilla movies, or Shingeki no Kyojin sort of).
While Colossus characters and Titan characters need not be unique, I don't want everyone piling into one project. However, if no one makes a Myrmidon character, I don't really mind at all, since I can just control them as NPC's anyways. And while the mood of the story veers a little dark, your characters don't have to be moody or anything, and we can totally play off of the tropes of the movies or shows that inspired this idea, for example, if two people make Colossus characters, then their mechs can totally combine to form a 'megazord'-like thing, so don't feel too restricted. One thing though, the technology is fairly to close to what we have now, just a little bit further into the future where giant mechs are just starting to be feasible, kind of like Pacific Rim but with a lot fewer mechs than they had. If you want your character to have telepathy, ask me first and I will consider it. If you want to make a secondary character, you can, they can be part of the Projects, support staff like researchers, engineers, or military chain-of-command, or civilians.
