Autumn Page Director’s Office Monday Afternoon
The whole day had just gone wrong for Autumn. The mission had gone disastrously and all the blame was pretty much on her. Heck, even she was blaming herself. She had underestimated their opponents, and had sent away her back up, and for that, an innocent man was now dead. She did make mental note to thank Brandon alone later. He had stuck his neck out a bit for her, even if it had not worked. Perhaps she shouldn’t be so hostile towards him. Who knew his reasons why he did what he did? Maybe he wasn’t like her father… Her thoughts were interrupted by the Director clearing her throat. “Miss Page. I am aware that after the mission you were sent on today, you should be due for some personal time. However, something came up. I need you to take over the mission to South Carolina. The agent who I was planning on sending on it had a personal issue come up that he needed to address.” Autumn looked at the Director in disbelief. Another mission? So soon? ”Ma’am… I can’t…” “We have confirmed that she is not a target of Shadow, unlike Miss Felds. This should be a simple missions. If I could send anyone else, I would. However you are the best operative I have to send at the moment. Your talents are the best suited towards a peaceful recruitment like this.” ”But Director…” “No buts. This is your way to make up for the previous mission Miss Page. I know you were not fully anticipating what happened, but I need you right now. Are you with me?” The Director locked her one good eye with Autumn’s. ”Yes Ma’am. You said South Carolina right? I’m guessing I’ll be taking a night flight?” Autumn saw no point in fighting at the moment. If she was needed for this mission, she would take it, trauma aside. “Once you do get back, I will arrange for Miss Lequal to have a few sessions with you.” Autumn let out a small sigh of relief. Meghan was a good person, and having a few sessions with her would be good. ”Thank you Director. I will get ready to head out soon.” Autumn stood up and turned to leave the office. “Miss Page?” Autumn turned back to look at the director. “I am sorry you had to witness what you did. You will not face any negative repercussions. You did all you could.” ”Thank you Director.” Autumn left, letting out a long, loud sigh as she headed back up the stairs to her office. She picked up her mission ready bag and got ready to leave, ready for her next mission. ”Off to South Carolina I go.”
