Everyone, we will be starting this roleplay on Monday October 19th US standard time.
To give you a heads up and allow you to begin planning what your first posts are going to look like I'll tell you a little about how this is going to begin. The Center is a pretty nasty place, experimentation, testing, cruel guards, you get the idea. All labor in the prison with the exception of guards and lab related personal is done by the metas, so cafeteria work... okay I'm not all that familiar with the day to day operations of a prison but you get the idea. Obviously we have a variety of prison factions. While the guards will defend themselves and prevent escape they're not known to intervene in meta on meta conflicts. In a prison faction you have the advantage of having people to watch your back. This of course also means that there are rivalries and almost all out wars between the factions in the prison and unless it turns into an all out riot or threatens Center security the guards won't intervene. You can survive in the Center without a faction but it is far more difficult and potentially deadly. The cells in the center have two bunk beds, a small walkway between them and a very tiny bathroom. Each cell is outfitted with four people. The Center is outfitted with a sensor grid that emits a very specialized wavelength of background radiation. It had a very short halflife so once the sensor grid stops producing it the stuff vanishes almost completely. The radiation was synthesized by the corporation to depower metas. Since almost all meta human abilities originate from a similar genetic mutation (regardless of how varied the effects of the mutation are) the radiation works on almost all meta humans. There are two rooms in the Center that are not covered on the sensor grid. The Display Room which the prisoners refer to as the auction house and the Arena. The Display Room is equipped with a variety of different obstacles and items designed to let a meta human show off their power. The walls, floor and ceiling have been specially designed to be impervious to tampering. Unaffected by heat, or cold, no cracks, even microscopic ones for someone to slip through. An interior electric grid prevents phasing, etc ect. The display room has a large balcony on top protected by glass that has similar attributes to the walls. It is were prospective buyers watch over the Metas and bid on them. The Arena is similarly shielded from abilities but it has a completely different purpose. It is a training ground. Different people get time in the Arena to train their abilities to be cataloged and to ensure that they are capable if sold. Every night there is a fight between Metas in the Arena. The winner receives privileges from Center management, extra food rations, reduced labor work. They are also free to pass these privileges on to others. The purpose of these fights is to allow management to study developing meta human abilities, to increase the Metas proficiency with they're powers and to offer an alternate showcase to prospective buyers. The fights are voluntary however the prison factions often use them as ways to settle disputes and on occupation when sibling Metas are captured one uses the fights and benefits to protect the other. Our story is going to start on a day just like any other. Each of our characters has been there for varying amounts of time. Some a couple months, some several years, that's up to you. There is an explosion that rocks the facility. One so huge that it knocks out the sensor grid. Within ten minutes the power dampening field is gone and everything devolves into chaos. The guards while they have weapons, guns, flamethrowers (and more or less any other hand held weapon you can think of) they're not equipped to handle a full blown insurrection. The prisoners who weren't severely injured in the blast start to fight back my character Gloria is bunk makes with an old man who has the ability to teleport. She's going to try and gather as many people as she possibly can. The teleporter will warp our group to an isolated location just outside of New York City, from the stress of moving so far and transporting so many people the teleporter will have a heart attack. From there everyone will have free rein to stay with the group, go off on your own and let the story progress from there. One other thing I should mention is that every prisoner has on his arm what the Metas refer to as 'the Shackle' it's a metallic bracelet about an inch wide that has two functions, firstly a GPS tracking device and secondly an electric pain response which is used for keeping the Metas in line in the prison. The Center's ability to send out the electric shock is also compromised in the explosion and since it was not designed to work on a large scale can't be administered after we've warped away. First priority will be to remove them. Also at some later date if the Center goons are in close proximity to use and we still have our Shackles on it will be possible for them to set off that response. I should also mention that the corporation is not simply based on Meta slave trade, their primary business comes from mining the powers of meta humans but that comes in all shapes and sizes, the mercenary business is just one facade of that. Some electric uses are connected to massive power generators and used to provide clean energy, many medical break throughs have come from studying and sometimes dissecting metas. My point is that while the slave trade is likely the sorest point to the metas it is by no means that only thing that the corporation thrives on. The damage to the Center was just a minor setback. [@Vetis] With that cleared up you're good to post to the character tab.
