You cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again."
Name; Akome Age; 23 Gender; Female Family; Tarrlok - Father, Noatak - Uncle, Yakone - Grandfather Bending Type(s); Waterbending, Healing In-depth Appearance; Akome stands at a height of 5 feet and 8 inches (173cm) and weighs in at 129lbs (58kg). She has a thin build with a slight curve to her hips, average bust, and minimal muscular strength. She has dark ebony hair that falls down to her waist. She always has tied back from her face, often set in long braids that are fastened at the ends. Her eyes are almond shaped and an ice blue color, giving her a rather intimidating gaze. A thin set of lips and long straight nose compliment her slim face well, overall giving her a very sharp look. Her clothing match the colors of a typical Water Tribe individual, though she keeps her clothing lighter than usual as she is not very affected by the cold. She typically wears the same outfit, not sporting any kind of jewelry other than a thin headband, and a pouch to carry water in as accessory. Personality; Akome is confident and outgoing, quite fun to be around if one has a sense of humor. She has never been afraid to speak her mind for fear of hurting someone’s feelings and she isn’t above tossing a snarky remark or two when/if the situation calls for it. The majority of her repertoire consists of sarcastic comments or jokes accompanied by a sardonic smirk or raising of an eyebrow. She has been called cold more than a few times, but only because has extremely selective empathy, being that she cannot bring herself to understand the ridiculous reasons which cause a great deal of upset and alarm to most people. Crying at the drop of a hat is simply annoying and a waste of the human body’s functions in her opinion. Tear glands exist for the purpose of keeping one’s eyes moist to prevent them drying out, not to stream torrents of water down one’s face because of silly things. As a firm believer of independence, she absolutely loathes damsels in distress. She’s quite determined and headstrong when it comes to accomplishing tasks. Akome is a fast learner, not usually falling for the same tricks or making the same mistakes twice. She has a low tolerance for pain and afraid of many things, death included. She's not reckless, but wont back down from a challenge just because she thinks her opponent has an advantage. As a Bender, Akome is a quick thinker, unpredictable, and she hits hard every time, never letting up when faced with tough challenges. She refuses to ever let down anyone, and is extremely loyal. She can be trusted to follow through with tough tasks without hesitation. History; Akome was born in Republic City and from an early age, was adept in Waterbending. Both her parents were benders, though she doesn't know her father was Tarrlok to this day. She was able to learn from her mother's strict rules and harsh training techniques to master the skill in a short amount of time. She was, at a young age, molded to be the perfect fighting machine. Her mother having been a pro bender, she didn't find it strange that the woman wanted to train her so desperately. Her mother wanted Akome to follow in her footsteps or use her bending for good, often telling her that her father was one who didn't. She was always told, over and over by her mother: "Water is clear... passive. It takes on the color of its surroundings. To survive, women must be the color of water and do the same as it does. Blend in when we need to, and be fierce when our way of life is threatened." She wouldn't come to know the deep meaning of this until much, much later in her life. While her mother kept her mainly secluded from the rest of the city in their large home, Akome would sometimes manage to sneak away, out of the Tribe's main town to explore the world around her, a little at a time. After noticing Akome's need to see more of the world, When she was twelve years old, her mother took her to the Northern Water Tribe where she lived for a few years. She met a baby Polar Leopard while exploring the near lands around the Northern Tribe. After attempting to heal the little creature with her bending, she realized she was not yet proficient enough to do so, and so she carried the little thing back home, protecting it from a heavy storm and trudging through the snow for hours after getting lost. When she arrived back, exhausted and freezing, both of them were treated. Akome being healed and given warm soup, and the little cub given a splint for the broken foot it had suffered. The two spent some days together until they were fully healed, but then her mother ordered her to take the thing back to the wild. Obedient as she was, Akome would reluctantly take the creature back where she had found it, and together they searched for its mother, in the end not finding it. Deciding then that she would take on the responsibility of it and managing to convince her mother of this, she named the cub Kavi, and the two would grow up together, inseparable even to this day. As Akome would slowly grow up, her need to explore the world grew with her. Moving back to Republic City was always her goal, but with the death of the Avatar, things there seemed too dangerous for her to return. Always she challenged her mother what the worst would happen if she were to go on a journey; explaining to her that she could take care of herself. Always she would get a no, later learning that this was due the unsettling state of the world and the bonds between nations, Akome felt a deep need to try and unite the nations, so that the world could be more accessible to all. With this thought in mind, at her 22th birthday, she went to her mother and told them she would leave with or without their permission. Akome left the Northern Tribe along with Kavi, and the two have since been roaming about. It was when she was staying at a small Water Tribe settlement near a river, that she heard talk of an organization that was planning to do something about the state of things in the world. Determined to also make a difference, Akome decided she would join and fight to change the world. She recently made her way back to Republic City to learn more about how she can take her place in this so called peace keeping organization. Equipment; Akome travels very lightly, often having Kavi carry anything she may need to. The only things she has always on her person are her water pouch and headband, which is hollow and filled with water for just in case purposes. If she needs things like a change of clothes or food, they can be found in a bag strapped to Kavi's saddle. Other; Akome has a pet Polar Leopard named Kavi - Male - About half the size of Naga, can carry up to two people.
