Not at all, its a alt universe so theres no characters from the games or lore, just basic idea of the fact that there was a nuclear fallout and most people were pacted away in vaults for safty (some vaults had scientific experiments that were done without the knowledge of the inhabitants.)
Some vaults were opened and people ventured out into the wasteland, making settlements and savaging what they could. Thats pretty much how the RP will kick off, either being in a vault or being a wastelander, a free roam rp though so people able to explore the wasteland and abandoned vaults and being a vault walker meaning you lived in a vault but left into the waste land. 
Just an overview of what to think when making your Cs, lore wont be to important.
