The evening wouldn't last forever, after all, and now that he'd pledged himself to having a good time Abel was determined to make adequate use of every second. On the way, he began to feel a strange and uncomfortable sensation in his pants. At first, he dismissed it as one of those random feelings, but the second time it happened the guardian reached down to investigate. He slipped his hand into his left-side pocket and in short order encountered a bizarre object which he then attempted to grasp a hold of. Now stopped completely and standing in the middle of the hall, Abel slowly withdrew a long, wriggling, furry shape from his pocket and a few seconds later finally identified, to his very great surprise, exactly what it was. Fun! “Oh, hi, Scoot. Rooming with me today?” Abel held the ferret beneath the arms, just the way the online guide said how to, and watched the little beast's bottom half stretch down ward. “Wow, you're like a living slinky. Don't tell any of the others, but at this point I'm pretty sure you're the best thing ever.” He put the ferret on his shoulder and started walking again, grinning as Scoot nipped gently at his ear. “Seriously, I never knew little weasels could be so great.” Now more or less happy, Abel continued on toward the airdocks. He beheld Gren, Cobalt, and Ebon, waved, and then stood off to the side to wait for things to start. With Scoot around, he had something to occupy himself as he stood by, and did not in fact notice when Sapphire, Delta, and Grane arrived. The conversation between Sapphire and Gren went totally unnoticed, as important as it was.
