"Hold on John, maybe we should take a breath and think on this". Thomas said, being uncharacteristically cautious as he reached forward and caught John by the arm.  " all we know if this man is that he killed another without hesitation and somehow knows who we are.  Forgive me for hesitating but maybe we should before we wind up dead." 
In the heat of the chase two weeks before Thomas had been to worked up to think things through.  Now though this whole situation was setting off internal warnings.
