Welcome to the guild! Lucky for you there's a tabletop section (relatively newly installed), and some other recent user who is all in to teaching others about various roleplay types and stuff. I agree that it can be fun to play a character who isn't the most suited for a situation, although my first hand experience with die-and-manual roleplay is... virtually nonexistent.
