Thomas rolled his eyes in exasperation, still unable to chase the thought away that they had been the only witnesses to that murder.  It seemed possible to him that the man was only looking to lure them into a trap and, in killing them, get rid of any risk of the murder being exposed.
"I wouldn't want to intrude,"  He said, coming out of this thoughts upon hearing John's offer.  "Besides, your wife is not a great supporter of mine.  I wouldn't want things to be uncomfortable."
