Either use a picture or describe characteristic features of that region without actually categorizing them as from that region.

However that's not really relevant cause he didn't say Cobalt [i]looked[/i] Japanese. He said he was of Japanese decent but (from my understanding) lacked several inherited traits allowing him to be mistaken for white which is a completely different thing from using regional stereotypes to describe someone. This seems to suggest the existence of aJapan for him to be descended from.
