The snake hissed out savagely as Mikoto pulled off her red mist stunt, its sense of smell temporarily rendered useless. Even so, the filtering membrane behind its animal eyes still saw the live prey and soon the snake coiled up for one more lunge. It paid little attention to Astraea, its instincts sent to kill the girl with the broom. Of course, it didn’t take into account the idea of Mikoto actually fighting back. The small series of explosions that were emitted from her broom made the snake give pause, its body being rocked on its side slightly. Before it could so much as consider a second assault, the peddler girl had whipped out a small flute. Eyes narrowing, the snake bobbed back and forth as its senses caught wind of the music. With a hiss, it slowly lowered itself to the ground, continuing to sway in place. The danger was over. “Wow, I didn’t think that you’d live out like that,” Melissa said suddenly, having appeared next to Mikoto’s side. “And you even tamed it too! Maybe it’s not your time to die after all? Still, there’s something about that snake…” The small girl bent her knees and crouched near the great white serpent. With a hand outstretched forward, she placed her palm over the reptile’s snout. Thankfully it was much too out of it to react so she wouldn’t be losing a hand on this day. Melissa waited for a couple moments before moving away and smiling. “Of course! No wonder you were able to tame it so easily. See, it was charmed beforehand and you simply took the spell off. Right now that’s just a wild snake doing a funny dance and…what’s that?” Melissa asked, putting her ear up to the stuffed-bunny she was carrying. “Miranda says that someone put the charm on it to kill us. Or you. Or something.”
Sedril blinked, his face heating up with pink. One moment he was staring Death in the face in the form of the Roc’s mighty talons, and the next he was lying on top of the pretty knight he was trying to impress. He listened to her plan and nodded once, still too meek to form full sentences. “S-Sorry,” he mumbled out as he rolled off of her and dusted his uniform off. “So movement enhancing spell, right? Um, you should probably do that soon since that thing is coming right for us,” he continued, pointing at the massive bird flying overhead.
“Mpppf! Mmppf!” The roaring was louder than ever and the slamming of doors made the wolf-like creature narrow its eyes. It flinched as the room was suddenly illuminated by the flickering of blue torches before its red eyes focused on a human girl and…a spirit? Yes, it was a ghost. A lingering soul tied to the very earth itself. As a creature from the primordial times, Ruxen could clearly see the boundaries separating this world and so invisible beings were nothing new to her. As Kurenai demanded for a name and an explanation, Ruxen merely growled out again with anger and a spark of defiance. It wasn’t like she was in the best position to answer after all. Massive chains pinned her body to the floor, digging into her flesh and fur causing fresh blood to well up over patches of already dried wounds. A thick, metal muzzle had been fitted over the creature’s face, turning all of her cries into silenced mumbles, leaving her to roar out instead. She continued glaring at the two girls, tail swishing back as she instinctively backed away from them. The only people who visited were Imperium priests who sought to ensure themselves that she remained chained up and hidden away from the world. Snarling at these two girls, the small chamber began to rumble slightly as sprouts of chains emerged from the very ground and slithered over to the two girls in an unnatural manner. Ruxen blinked but she still didn’t move. She knew that the chains served as a defense mechanism against bandit and seekers so it was obvious these two weren’t sent by the Imperium. Still, that alone didn’t give her incentive to save them as well, considering that she couldn’t even move.
