“Would you forsake your child in the name of progress? Would you forget your mother for the sake of progress? Would you betray your friend for the sake of progress? Then how can we do this to the pokemon who got us here? What gives us the right or the reason to destroy not only our mother earth and fail our pokemon friends but deny our children the future they deserve? It must end here. We can’t turn back the clock, but my friends we can make a new future, A future that saves pokemon and ourselves. To do that we have to give up our petty ways and relearn the respect that fostered our growth. It will not be easy, and the costs are high. My generation has failed this earth, and so we leave it to the next. We go to where we can do no harm, an exile for our failures. You true children of earth who have proven your dedication to a new mission. To save what we lost. I know that together you and your pokemon can save this world. Do not doubt, do not despair. With your pokemon at your side you can do anything. Arceus be with you.” – Arthur Neil, Farewell Address Pokemon. A world with such majesty and potential, and we nearly destroyed it. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Prof. Michael Shale. I act as head of pokemon sciences in the small village of Letchworth. It’s my job to tend to all situations involving pokemon. It’s a very hectic job, but worth every moment. Pokemon are fascinating creatures with astounding powers. It is through their work with humanity that we grew into a grand society, but as the years went on greed took hold and our ideals of progress soon overwhelmed the planet. We ravaged its resources and destroyed its environments. The pokemon we once relied on were now in grave danger. Pokemon had long been paired up with people called Trainers. These dedicated people worked with pokemon for many reasons, and often proved themselves in youth in Pokemon Leagues. It was those Leagues that spearheaded a revolution in how we treat the world and pokemon. They along with the governments of the world worked hard to undo the damage we had done. The International League, home to the best trainers in the world, focused on the physical defense of pokemon providing aid to endangered areas and helping to preserve habitat. The government reinforced laws to protect nature as a whole trying to push green tech and safer methods while still maintaining our society. The effort was valiant, but it was clear we were beyond the point of no return. Populations were growing and the choice we becoming them or us. Then a mysterious thing occurred called the Deoxys event. A tiny comet landed on earth containing a new species of pokemon. It was befriended and captured by the young new International champion Arthur Neil. Deoxys provided new insight into space and lead to a new space age of technology. This wasn’t enough to save the world, but it gave us a new option. It was agreed that to save the human race and the world humanity would leave for the stars. Starships were made and people evacuated for a new settlement of mars. The red planet had no life to destroy, but could be safely colonized and maintained with the new safer technologies as a base. Not everyone could part with Earth though. Some decided to stay and pay for their failures, others simply refused, and other like my great great grandfather remained vowing to restore the earth and protect it. Today small towns dot the world living a new harmony as we oversee the rebirth of the planet. Once again special men and women join with pokemon to maintain this balance. These Trainers are the cornerstone of our societies protecting both the people and the wild world sometimes from each other. I work closely with them studying the adaptability of pokemon and how they have come to cope with the strange world we live in now. But that’s enough about me. The Trainer Head, Jaklo Riecher, asked me to get you all acquainted with how things work in the town, so I suppose I’ll start with him. The Trainers as I said act as a guardian force for the town protecting it and serving its citizens. Jaklo Riecher is our Trainer Head. These Trainers, also called Rangers, all report back to him. He’s the chief so to say. Jaklo is one of the most skilled trainers in the North Eastern area, and now uses that skill to train other rangers as well as handle the more serious of occurrences. Below him is his Alice Maez. She is another very skilled trainer who ranks the same as Jaklo, but serves as second in command. Speaking of Ranks as Trainers you are split up into a number of groups based on a combination of skill and service: Oak, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, and master. Both Jaklo and Alice are platinum trainers having served for many years and proven their skill many times even though they are rather young for the rank. There’s a tall tale about how the two along with their pokemon stopped the old Mt. Morris dam from collapsing and flooding the entire eastern plains and the ruin of Rochester. The water could have mixed with the pollution of the city and ruined the entire area. In truth the dam wasn’t that damaged and other rangers helped plenty, but it was under Jaklo and Alice’s direction that the disaster was averted. Now let’s talk about all of you. As trainers you will be working to protect the town of course. It’s far too dangerous to just let anyone wander around out in the wilderness. Wild pokemon are after all wild. They were far more tame back when society was still big, but have gone back to older instincts. It’s not a bad thing, but something we have to be careful about. As lower ranks you’ll be dealing with smaller situations. Wild pokemon getting too close to town, nearby salvage, and general services. Trainers are core to the town’s well being, but don’t get full of yourself Trainers are only one small part. The citizens of Letchworth are a hardworking hardy lot. Four generations have lived here in the beautiful park. Itself a monument to the restoration of nature. William Letchworth had bought the property in the eighteen hundreds from farmers and began to regrow the forests. Sorry, I’ve gotten side tracked. Now the people of Letchworth are from a number of places originally. Many came from Rochester and Unova both urban areas too polluted to live in now. It’s a nice quiet place to live. The farms circle the homes that circle the shops, and everything is built around the Ranger Hall. Here just take a look at this map: ((((So as i mentioned I've redone the map. The new layout is obviously bigger and designates an area to supply the needs of pokemon. The light blue is a fresh water are while the smaller dark blue is salt since some people have salt water pokemon [by some i mean like 4]. Anyway it's again an area open to sandboxing in whatever might be needed. The trainer area is going to facilitate the pokemon lab, a training facility, a barracks, and workshop which handles tech brought back.)))) Don’t mistake the quaint setting for simple though. Just because we have sworn to protect nature doesn’t mean we’ve gone back to the stone age. Technology is still widely used here, but we are far more careful. Everything is recycled, and our energy is produced cleanly as possible. As trainers you will have access to some very top of the line things. PC’s, healing machines, and more great inventions. One device to be ever familiar with is the pokeball. This small sphere acts as a resonant aura holding chamber, basically meaning it can hold any pokemon which chooses to be captured. We make them using the traditional apricorn method, and throw in a little modern technology. We aren’t cut off either. We have two towns we communicate with somewhat often Rushing and Vint. Vint is down south a ways, and Rushing is over at the Niagara Falls. When things get bad we can rely on each other. They also have Trainers, and heads are Michelle in Rushing and Leon in Vint. Maybe once you’ve proven yourselves capable then we’ll let you travel out with a caravan to visit. For now I think it’s time we got to some serious matters. Trainers are dedicated to balancing nature and civilization. It’s a thin, but hardline and we walk it everyday. This job can be one of the best in the world, but also very difficult. You will be tested often, and you’ll never know what will happen that day. Preparation is key to how we work. Pokemon can be great allies, but also are wild entities. They have powers that sometimes cannot be matched by just one person. That’s why you’ll be in groups most of the time and never without your own pokemon. It’s never an easy day when it comes to it, but sometimes we have to put them down. Pokemon can go entirely farel and become only a threat. We’ve never seen a tamed pokemon do this, but wild pokemon in desperate situations have gone on rampages. Pokemon aren’t the only danger. Some humans live out in the wilderness, and seek to survive through conquest. Instead of working for themselves they try to take what is ours. These outlanders are rare in our territory, but are common far north and south. It’s unlikely for us to meet them, but always keep your guard up. We play an active role in keeping them from salvaging the more dangerous technology of the cities that we have banned. It’ll be some time before you newer members are allowed in the major urban ruins though. I think that’s enough from me though. Jaklo asked me to hand out these forums to everyone just a survey so we can reorganize the records. Jaklo Riecher]Letchworth Trainer Registry Name: Jaklo “forster” Riecher. Call him Jak and you die. Age: 29 Gender: male Physical Attributes (appearance): Jaklo stands 6’2” and weighs in just over two hundred pound. As Trainer head he's in top shape. He has a leaner figure, but it leaves him as pretty much all muscle. His facial features are sharp and complement his piercing eyes. It's often been said staring into Jaklo’s eyes is like staring down a dragon. Jaklo keeps his hair under his cap almost all the time, but what can be seen is shaggy and dark brown. Most often you'll find Jaklo in his uniform, despite never enforcing one on the other trainers. He stands tall and proud whenever he wears it, a figure for all lower rangers to look up to. Ever a mischievous smirk on his face Jaklo always is ready to go. Jaklo and Alice in special Mega Evolution Gear. Jaklo is glad he hasn't had to wear it much. Medical and Family History: Jaklo Riecher born July 25th was son to a pair of farmers in Letchworth. He applied to the trainers early on and bonded with a treecko named Yanso. They started simple like everyone else. Jaklo didn’t really show as a stand out until his bronze years. He showed proficiency with pokemon, and began taking advanced lessons from the Professor at that time Michael Slate Senior. During this time Jaklo became good friends with Michael’s son, a fellow ranger. Jaklo slowly built up a family of pokemon, and proved his talent time and time again. There was a fiery determination in the boy that couldn’t be doused even by the worst opposition. The stories are countless. Every time he’d enter the forest a new tale was born. When the previous Trainer Head stepped down Jaklo stepped up having been awarded platinum rank for his part in a special mission which has not been fully disclosed to the public. Jaklo leaves the people to tell his stories, and instead speaks with action. In his work as Trainer Head he has never gotten lazy. He still does plenty of field work choosing to leave most of the management to others like Prof. Slate. It’s long been known that Jaklo and his second in command Alice Maez have been in a relationship. Jaklo was a silver when he met the bronze trainer Alice. He was often assigned to mentor the trainer as she had problems following most others orders. Jaklo was the only one with enough energy to keep up with her. With the guidance of someone more skilled and her own boundless enthusiasm Alice soon caught up to Jaklo. The two jumped up the ranks Jaklo always just ahead of Alice. The two are largely inseparable. It’s their team work which has gotten them so far. Even without them being romantically involved the friendship at the base of that is what has made them such a great duo. Something all trainers should strive for. One trainer alone simply is not enough. It is the teamwork of them and thier pokemon that gets things done. The greatest story of Jaklo Riecher is one no one in the town forgets. It was late fall. The frosts had hit and the crops were harvested. Things had been tight that year, but the town make it through the winter. Then that thought was called into question when a massive storm rolled in. The weather was bitterly cold, and lightning cracked constantly against the black sky. People were told to shelter in place stay home and endure the storm, but soon they found it to be more than that. A figure had been seen flying through the storm throwing the bolts of lightning. The being disregarded everything in it’s bath sowing chaos through the forest and it was heading straight for town. Jaklo and a squad of other trainers were dispatched to handle it. Jaklo was one of three gold rangers at the time, Alice and Michael slate being the others. The group was those three and four silvers. They confronted the creature outside of town in the barren fields. IT was all of their pokemon versus just one. It was catastrophic. The pokemon was nothing they had ever seen before, a creature of legend, and so was its power. Despite using all of their pokemon against it the Thundurus wiped them out. Their pokemon lied bloody and weak in the dirt, and so the Thundurus looked to the trainers. He launched Michael through the air crippling the man the silvers retreated calling for an evacuation. Jaklo and Alice stared down the monster. It’s voice was thunder and laughed at the rangers’ failure. “Jaklo, we have to get out of here. He won.” “No! I won’t let him hurt anyone else.” “How are you going to fight him Yanso’s beaten too badly to go on.” “Scept!” The Sceptile groaned standing back up defiantly. “You heard the mon. We’re staying. You can go clear the town, but we won’t give up.” “Scep Tile! Scee.” Yanso agreed. Alice just nodded and ran. Even her hope was crushed. Thundurus laughed again raising his hand and firing massive bolts of lighting into the sky ones so bright you’d mistake it for mid day. Then raising both he launched a stream of raw electricity at Jaklo. Jaklo flinched holding his arms up despite knowing it would do no good. Yet the lightning never struck. Yanso stood before him enduring the blast. In that moment Yanso and Jaklo locked eyes their pain being shared, and their determination galvanized. An energy consumed Yanso then erupted to reveal him in a new form. Thundurus was taken aback for only a moment then continued firing lightning at the Sceptile. The energy no longer phased him and instead Yanso walked towards the legendary pokemon growing stronger with each step. “Alright Yanso. Time to teach this fool his mistakes! Tear him apart, dual chop and leaf blade.” The empowered Sceptile unleashed a flurry of attacks. His claws and leaf blades tore at the Thundurus sending is back away from town. “Clear the skies, ready…. and…” With a mighty roar Yanso’s pods began to glow and the storm was forced back in a ring around them as the sunlight poured down. “Yanso, solarcanon!” “Sceeeeeeeeeep TILE!” Yanso screamed as solar energy filled his body and was fired in one concentrated sphere from his mouth directly at Thundurus.. “Follow it up, hit him like a rock slide.” Jaklo ordered The ball exploded around Thundurus knocking him to the ground where Yanso engaged him again producing massive boulders to throw at his foe. The Thundurus was pummeled and crushed. It knew it had to leave now or it was all over, and so it fled, and has never been seen since. Mental Health background: A proud and determined young man Jaklo stands as a symbol for the ideal trainer. A man who will do anything for his town as well as make the hard choices to protect nature from that same town. He has ferocity and compassion, pride and humility, a man who can be looked up to by anyone. He wishes he was as perfect as the stories make him. Jaklo’s really is just a man doing the best he can. He’s had to make hard calls, and no matter how often he’s called a hero he feels like he’s just a person. He has his moments where even he knows he did something amazing, but more often than not he thinks people praise him too much. He is human and struggles with many problems the public don’t get to know. He’s lost friends in this line of work, and that burden weighs on him even more when he’s told how great he is. If he’s so strong why couldn’t he help them? Jaklo knows he’s just a man, but he doesn't let that stop him. He carries on even when it seems lost even when everything is against him. They say Jaklo has the soul of a dragon a primal power just waiting to be unleashed. When Jaklo puts his heart and mind to something nothing stops him. Alice Maez is about 5’11” and would never admit a weight. She’s fit like pretty much all rangers though. She’s also not the kind of person who bothers too much with her appearance, partially because there’s so few reasons for it, but she does enjoy the times when she get’s to get all dressed up (Major events like graduation, the Summer Gala, the trainer convention). She has blonde hair that get’s down to her shoulders, but always wears it up. Like Jaklo she normally wears her uniform since she’s one of the higher ups, but she has far more days where she won’t compared to him. She has a pension for blues in her wardrobe partially since she prefers water type so much. Alice's custom summer/aquatic gear Medical and Family History (Background/story): Alice was born to be a trainer. Her father was a ranger back when, but had retired to raise a family. Alice was put on the recruit list early watched since she was young for potential. Her father raised her for the position, and she intended to make him proud. She was a stubborn kid at times a little spoiled by her father's history. At first she saw herself above other recruits since she had been training since she was much younger. Her potential was clear, but she needed guidance. Jaklo was assigned as a mentor. He kept up with Alice showing her how much more can be done as a team. With a new mindset Alice was quick to rise in the ranks. Alice’s crowning moment was up in Rushing. She had been assigned to a caravan, and was put incharge of two lower rank trainers who were getting out of town for the first time. The trip there was fine as was the visit. Rushing is nestled up close to the wonderful and powerful Niagara Falls. Even though Letchworth has three grand waterfalls the size and power of Niagara was amazing. The trouble came during the return trip. Somehow they had gotten off route and got close to one of the old urban centers the city at the center was Buffalant. The caravan was carrying a supply of medical herbs that only grew down in the Niagara Gorge. The plants gave off a rotten smell similar to that of carrion. This of course was like a magnet to the predatory pokemon in the urban ruins. With civilians and only two low ranking trainers Alice defended the caravan actually combating pokemon herself as times got desperate. Not wanting to be outdone Sholt, her Blastoise, decided to follow his trainer’s lead and stepped it up evolving into Mega Blastoise. The caravan arrived in Letchworth with only one injury Alice was exhausted from sleep deprivation. Mental Health background (personality): Caring, but not soft Alice is the guiding light to much of the rangers. While Jaklo is focused on the grand scheme and protection of the world Alice keeps the trainers focused and working. She’s kind when needed and a force to be reckoned at other times. She tries to keep her public and private life separate very much liking her solitary time after work. Occasionally even needing space from Jaklo, but that’s very rare. It’s actually common for her to have solitary time with him. Rumors abound of course, but there’s no proof to any of them. Jaklo seems to prefer the one where they have been going out on top secret missions, but that’s sadly not the most popular in town.
