Her face is like an old shield, scarred and worn, but still steadfast and solid, wood and iron. She often sports a cocky smirk as a neutral expression, to the constant disdain of her commanding officers. She generally clads herself in leathers and furs, both to bite back against the cold and to keep her movements quick. She is missing several fingers on her left hand, something she likes to hide by wearing full-fingered gloves. [/hider] [hider=Background] Relmyna grew up in the small mining town of Caldera, just south of the Ghostgate, raised by a man named Veros Vibato, an eccentric older man with a healthy fear of fire and disease. Under his tutelage she learned how to manage a working population and balance budget books, neither of which were things she was particularly interested in. She never knew her mother, and Veros didn't seem too keen on discussing the matter with her. She lived with two older siblings and her father, managing the family mining business and helping out around the house. As the only girl, she was often forced to cook and clean by her older siblings, and thus was often considered very mature for her young age. When she was 12 years old, tragedy struck Caldera. The Blight disappeared with the defeat of Dagoth Ur, being the spreading of his will, but the creatures infected by it did not. While men exposed to the Blight often succumbed to their disease, the creatures continued to propagate, spreading it amongst themselves in small populations behind the Ghostfence. When the Ghostfence was retired, these creatures escaped, and while most were dealt with relatively quickly, a few stragglers managed to escape and thrive. The Blight was not seen in Morrowind for hundreds of years, so the protections that existed in the past were no longer in use, and the population of Caldera was quickly decimated. Veros recognized the signs of the Blight immediately, and, motivated by his fear and superstition surrounding the Blight, abandoned his home and took his family to flee to Skyrim, where the Blight would never reach. After their departure, the Blight was not allowed to spread past Caldera, and authorities were able to contain the infection relatively easily. They drifted across the nation for 3 years, leaving them penniless and weary, eventually landing in the village of Dragon Bridge, where Veros worked the lumber yard and helped keep the bridge in good repair. The land felt peaceful, and the days drifted by lazily for Relmyna and her siblings as thing returned to some semblance of normalcy. Relmyna enjoyed her time in Morrowind despite the cold, celebrating her 16th birthday with her family. Her oldest brother had left the small village for parts unknown, the younger of the two staying behind to help manage the lumber yard. There were whispers of civil war, and the adults of the town often discussed how they were scared of the coming Stormcloak rebellion, given the strategic importance of the Dragon Bridge, but Relmyna never heard much of it, and didn't let it bother her. The Stormcloaks stormed her village and slaughtered her family before her very eyes. They plead to be kept as prisoners of war. They plead to be slaves, to be spared, to have their children spared. Some of the Stormcloak soldiers seemed nervous. To Relmyna, this did not seem like the behaviour of a justified rebellion. It felt like an extermination. Varus was the name of the commander of the Wolfhawks, a regiment of the Stormcloak army known for their brutality, with rumours that they had werewolves in their ranks. He led the vanguard in the attack on Solitude, appointed by Ulfric, whom Varus had hidden his violent actions from. To Ulfric, Varus was just a highly efficient and successful soldier. He was a brute of a man, a large imposing Nord with tangled black tresses and what seemed to be a carefully trimmed beard. He towered above his fellows, and wore no armor into battle, just a long silver greatsword. The Wolfhawks killed every non-Nord man, woman, and child residing in the village. They dragged them out to the center of the main street and slit their throats, letting their blood paint the ground red and mingle with the nightsoil. They tossed their bodies into the river and let it carry them out to the ocean. Relmyna was the last. They dragged her away and she entertained them for a few hours before being left to die on the shores of clearpine pond. Just as she had accepted her fate and began to let herself go, a figure from the trees approached. It was tall and skinny and had an odd way of walking. Relmyna's vision began to fade as she felt the thing drag her away. She dreamt that she was being absorbed by the trees, taken into the earth, and let this vision carry her into the darkness. A few days later, she awoke. She was nestled in a small nearby cave, under a pile of leaves and moss, and felt more relaxed than she could ever remember being. She sat up in confusion and tried to piece together how she had ended up here. It was dawn, and she recognized the sight of Clearpine Pond. She could see the shore from where she sat, and it all came rushing back. She laid there and cried, feeling like she would never move again, never leave this spot, never go out into the world to confront what had been done to her and her family. But she did recover. She did survive. Knowing that she couldn't go back to her home, she wandered until she came across a tower filled with bandits, who took her in and taught her how to use a bow and blade. Taught her to steal, to hunt, to live on her own without relying on the help of villages and cities and empires. At 19, she left, on the search for something to lead her back to Varus. Skyrim was under Stormcloak rule now, and she knew that she would be branded a criminal and a traitor for her thoughts. She would end Varus and end whosoever set Varus upon her village. She would work for whoever she needed to, lie to whoever she needed to, steal from whoever she needed to. All for revenge. All for him. She learned early on that people tend to imagine someone who is funny and easygoing as someone who isn't much of a threat. She's quick to see through deception, incredibly perceptive and sensitive to people's intentions and actions. Relmyna is well known for being able to talk her way out of almost anything, and is known in a few places as "Relmyna of the Pyrite Tongue", both for her persuasiveness and her penchant for not following up on her promises. She is quick to make friends and even quicker to burn bridges, taking alliances and enemies as is convenient. She has no real closeness with anyone around her, keeping herself guarded even when she might appear to be opening up to someone. She stays mistrustful of everyone around her, constantly questioning their intentions and goals internally, trying to prevent herself from being hurt or taken advantage of. Here goes: -Vvardenfell is completely destroyed as of 4e5 and is now what everyone knows as the Scathing Bay, for its water is still so hot from the volcanic activity still going on that it is impossible to swim in. I think. Anyhow, your character can't come from there, especially at her age. The maximum lifespan of Dunmer are 400 years, I believe. If she was born and came from Vvardenfell, she'd have to be a little over 200 years old. Your character would probably be a toddler. Fix that. -Her affiliation with the bandits of the Reach aren't going to be so good. You see, I've no problem with her being taken in by bandits... if she had a useful skill before ever even meeting them. If not, she'd have her innocence taken for the sport of it and then left on the side of the road. Also, just because you are friends with one bandit gang doesn't get you in with others. Those bandit gangs who are not part of the Highwaymen's Guild, of which is an overwhelming majority of them, aren't the nicest people to each other, let alone outsiders to their respective gangs. The Forsworn would be even moreso aggressive, as they tend have Reachman supremacy and nationalism in their political philosophy. Also, fyi, Forsworn is not interchangeable with Reachman. Using the term Forsworn to refer to Reachmen is like using Taliban to refer to Afghani people. -Another thing, and it might just be a typo, is that the Civil War and this RP is set in Skyrim, not Morrowind, as you've said in your character background. -She's going to need something better than two daggers. Even denim is enough to stave off a cut by a knife, so she'll be woefully outmatched against someone wearing so much as a padded cloth gambeson. Give her something better. It's a mercenary camp, she's bound to find something from the camp quartermaster if she didn't have it already. Also, it wouldn't hurt to give her a bigger, better quiver. Most medieval quivers of war archers held 40+, but I'd be willing to allow up to, but not over, 35-40 arrows. -Perhaps the biggest point I'd like to make is how she's going to be finding with that weakened grip on her hand missing "several fingers." We want people with at least a little weakness, but it has to make sense and not completely make your character useless. -Also, Varus sounds more Imperial than Nordic. The most Latin-sounding name in the long list of Nordic names is Magnus. Despite that, you see characters with Baltic Indo-European names in the game, like Farkas and Vilkas. Make of that what you will, either way, change the name of her mortal enemy to something more Pseudo-/Norse or Baltic or something.
