Kaiser Wilhelm II was devastated when news of Nicholas' death reached him. He had been sitting in his dining room, eating dinner, when the messenger arrived. "Message for you, my lord." The out-of-breath boy stammered, fumbling around in his bag for the letter. "Well, spit it out, so I can return to my meal." The Kaiser ordered in reply, already growing impatient. The Crown Regent would also like for it to be known that you have been formally invited to the funeral." The boy read aloud, as the Kaiser sat there, stunned. "No...not Nicky..." gasped Wilhelm, barely able to comprehend what he had just heard. "Parchment...fetch me the parchment...and my good pen. I wish to write a reply."
