Just at normal difficulty. All I did was edit one line in the game files so it ended in 1951 instead of 1948, allowing me to pursue my conquests for longer than the game allows by default; had I not done that, I wouldn't have seen Britain nor the USSR surrender. Defeating China gave me time to expand my industry and focus all of my war efforts on the Allied powers, and as the war dragged on without serious opposition, I built up the IJA to rival the Wehrmacht (18+ Sensha divisions!) and gave the IJN two new battle fleets. By 1943, it was looking bleak for Germany, but by then there was no question about Japan's new status as a superpower even if her ally fell.
