As the entire exchange goes on, stephen has his hand held against his ear like he was talking on a phone and, when asked that by david he chimes in with a distant "it appears as though the one owing someone something is actually you as, you had attempted to kill me while this... thing... took over and was feeding in order to piece me back together. Apparently it was doing so as peacefully as it could and only destroyed your gun because you'd threatened to kill me soooo... you sort of owe me an apology which can be easily remedied via a ride home" his voice sounding as though he was only partially there up to the end of the explanation, his hand dropping back to his side as he stares down the colonel
