[indent]The [b][color=pink]Second Republic of Salardia[/color][/b] officially announces it's decision to join the [i]Sociatatem[/i] to great acclaim by the [b][color=lightblue]Kingdom of Aontas[/color][/b] and [b][color=purple]Kingdom of Soroya[/color][/b], the former who negotiated the move and the latter who sent delegates to help sign the treaty.[/indent]

[indent]The [b][color=red]Battle of Norko Island[/color][/b] takes places between the Soroyan [color=purple][b]2nd Battlefleet[/b][/color] and the [b]5th Fleet[/b] of the [color=blue][b]Anvegadian Navy[/b][/color].[/indent]

[center][b][color=red]BATTLE OF NORKO ISLAND[/color][/b][/center]
[indent][b]Prelude to Battle[/b]: The Soroyans, seeking to maintain naval superiority and cut off Anvegadian troops on the continent, maintain the [b]2nd Battlefleet[/b] (2 CA, 3 CL, 3 DD) in the region, patrolling the Faresian coastline to prevent any reinforcement from the Anvegadians. While patrolling between the coast line and Anvegadian Faresia, Admiral Remko Woltersom identifies an incoming Anvegadian fleet, and with orders to destroy them, signals for a battle line. The Anvegadians similarly had designs to keep their soldiers supplied in Faresia and dispatched the [b]5th Fleet[/b] (1 CA, 4 CL, 4 DD) to guard Anvegadian Faresia and the coastal territories until they could be properly supplied.

[b]Battle[/b]: At 12:05 the Anvegadian flagship [i]ANV Guardian[/i] spotted the northward headed Soroyan [b]2nd Battlefleet[/b]. Admiral Luka Volvakov of the Anvegadian 5th Fleet gave the order to general stations and battle lines formed. The Anvegadian fleet, though larger was weaker in tonnage and in a prime move to strike. At 12:16 the [i]ANV Guardian[/i] turned and opened up a broadside on the Soroyan armored cruiser [i]SRF Eania[/i].[/indent]

[indent]The Anvegadians steamed ahead, successfully crossing the T while the Soroyans struggled to turn into formation. The [i]SRF Eania[/i] withered under fire from the Anvegadian cruisers [i]ANV Fearless[/i] and [i]ANV Valiant[/i], capsizing at 12:45 and taking 384 men with her under the waves. The Anvegadians luck wasn't to last however, as the armored cruiser [i]SRF Ekon[/i], against the orders to maintain the engagement flagged the light cruiser [i]SRF Klumperman[/i] to engage the [i]ANV Fearless[/i] in a no holds barred duel. The [i]ANV Fearless[/i] turned away, but when a stray shell from one of [i]Klumperman's[/i] 5-inch guns knocked out the bridge, the ship was dead in the water.

The Anvegadian destroyer [i]Dagger[/i] was sunk at 1:21 by a volley from the Soroyan cruiser [i]Steegeman[/i], and by then the Anvegadians had steamed on out of range of the Soroyan fleet, seeking safer waters to the south in Anvegadian Faresia.

[b]Aftermath[/b]: A tactical victory for the [i]Soroyan 2nd Battlefleet[/i], it's ultimate outcome was not yet foreseen, as neither side maintained a decisive presence in the region.

[indent]Mille-Sessauan troops mobilize for war. The [color=ed1c24][b]Army of Mille-Sessau[/b][/color] is at full combat readiness.[/indent]

[b]January 21st[/b]
[indent]The [b][color=red]Invasion of Faresia[/color][/b] begins by the [b][color=purple]Kingdom of Soroya[/color][/b]. The [b]2nd & 3rd Colonial Armies[/b] both land on the undefended Faresian coast. The [b]2nd Colonial Army[/b] ([i]50,000 Regulars, 40 Light Artillery, 200 Machine Guns[/i]) strikes out east toward Kedris.

The [b]Anvegadian Expeditionary Force[/b] is alerted to the presence of the Soroyan's at the last minute, and within days has formed a secondary trench line facing back to the west. They are now effectively cut off, with the Soroyan Kedris defenders on the east, and the Soroyan [b]2nd Colonial Army[/b] to the west.[/indent]

[indent]The [b][color=lightgreen]Empire of Sumaya[/color][/b] finishes it's designs on [b]Heavy Artilery[/b].[/indent]

[b]January 24th-29th[/b]

[center][b][color=red]Second Battle of Kedris[/color][/b][/center]

[indent]The [b]Second Battle of Kedris[/b] begins when the [b]4th Colonial Division[/b] and the [b]10th Colonial Division[/b] of the [b]Soroyan 2nd Colonial Army[/b] begins an assault on the Avengadian line. With 350 HVL-02 machine guns trained on the western approaches, Soroyan assaults are repulsed on the 24th and 25, incurring heavily casualties. Soroyan commanders however notice that during the later part of the day on the 25th, several well positioned Anvegadian HVL-02 machine guns simply do not open fire again, making the Soroyans believe they've run out of ammunition.

Another assault four days later on the 29th reveals this to be true. The attack creates a breakthrough, and three hours later the [b]Anvegadian Expeditionary Force North[/b] surrenders.

[b]Prelude[/b]: The [b]2nd & 3rd Colonial Army[/b] of the [color=purple]Kingdom of Soroya[/color] invaded the Faresian coast, over 80,000 troops hoping to relieve the strain in their colonies earlier in January. The [b]3rd Colonial Army[/b] under General Naut Ranervelt march south along the coast to reclaim territory lost to [b]Anvegadian Expeditionary Force South[/b]'s force under General Nikanov Kashnikov. Having captured Anor, the Anvegadians found themselves in the perfect defensive positions.

[b]Battle[/b]
- [i]February 6th[/i]: the [i]13th Colonial Division[/i] made first contact with the [b]5th Iron Guards Division[/b] entrenched just a mile north of Anor. Private Nan Kjud was the first casualty of the battle, being gunned down by an HVL-02 machine gun emplacement. The Soroyans begin entrenching several thousand yards north.

- [i]February 7th[/i]: Probing attacks by the 151st regiment of the [i]13th Colonial Division[/i] find that across the small stretch of land, there are close to a hundred machine guns, and taking the land will be difficult.

- [i]February 12th[/i]: A supply ship scheduled to reach Anor for the Anvegadians does not reach port. Rationing begins in earnest.

- [i]February 15th[/i]: The [b][color=purple]Soroyans[/color][/b] assault along the western plains, 9,000 men strong with a preliminary artillery barrage. The attack does not force a breakthrough.

- [i]February 21st[/i]: Another breakthrough is attempted by the [b][color=purple]Soroyans[/color][/b] by the [i]6th Colonial Division[/i] with two regiments of 6,500 men. While the breakthrough is not complete, Soroyan artillery dials in on the trench and destroys a dozen machine guns and incurs heavy Anvegadian casualties.

- [i]February 24th[/i]: The first Anvegadian machine gun, Unit 113 of the [b]4th Iron Guards[/b], runs out of ammunition during a probing assault by [b][color=purple]Soroyans[/color][/b] forces. Without resupply, the Anvegadians are running thin.

In return, Mille-Sessau renounces all territorial claims in Kelric and Etellia. While the deal was carefully crafted not to compromise the major resources and cities of Kelric, the King of Kelric has publicly expressed his fury at the decision. Societatem representatives counter that the move was necessary to avoid war and maintain stability in the region.[/indent]
