1). That's a tough one. Starting right off the school year might make a more flowing and sensible introduction... but every school RP starts that way. If we're already in the middle of the semester, we could already be in the mix of things [i]and[/i] we could make work of the relationship sheet - but it could end up being RP-ruiningly awkward if not done right. 

My vote's going to be on option two.
